You may have heard a lot of talk & seen videos about a variety of named haircuts for curly hair that cost well into the $$$’s
My philosophy is that as a hairstylist, we should have the ability to understand the architecture of all hair types. I created the Signature Curly Cut Experience because I wanted my curly girls to know they have a safe & trusted place to go for their haircare. It seems many hairstylists either don’t know how to cut curly hair, or they charge into the hundreds for a named technique, only to lose the personality of the hair they are working with.
I don’t follow a rigid curly haircut template - & I don’t believe beautiful curly hair should be reduced to a curl-type chart.
Curly hair is multi-dimensional. One head of hair can have several curl patterns, varying density, different textures, growth patterns & areas that behave completely different from one another.
That’s why I approach every curly haircut individually.
Rather than assigning your hair a number & a letter, I study how your hair actually behaves - how it moves, expands, contracts, falls, springs & responds to weight.

Why I don’t Label Your Curls
Curl charts can be useful for communication, but they don’t tell the whole story. I believe that curls are wonderful & complex. Intriguing & unique.
Two people can be classified as Type 3B, yet have completely different density, strand diameter, porosity, shrinkage etc.
And like my father, my husband; as well as my daughter, son & cousins; multiple curl patterns can be found on the same head!
So instead of asking “what number is your curl?” I like to find out:
How does your hair move?
Where does it carry weight?
How much does it shrink & where?
How does it respond to moisture?
What is your hair styling routine?
With these factors in mind we can build a haircut, style & haircare system built around the curls that you carry, that speak authentically to your identity & represent you so well so that you never have to say “I am not my hair” but that your hair is a beautiful part of who you are.
